Dear Praying Friends,
It
is 1:47Am in the morning. I just returned from the small cell group
meeting that Benaaz, her family and her father's former "hindu drinking
buddy" (Sameer) have started. Tonight Benaaz prayed! That was
great—praise the Lord. Her parents say they still are not ready to
pray. Keep praying for both of them as they seem to be counting the
cost to follow Jesus.
I just could not go to sleep without sharing what felt like a a God ordained moment in time.
When
Kayla (my teammate) asked prayer for special healing for Angela (our
other teammate) who was sick today, Sameer (who was Benaaz's dad's
"hindu drinking buddy" just a few weeks ago) said he would pray for her.
So, he asked her name about 5 times (just as we have issues
remembering foreign names, so do they!) and then mentioned to all of us
that he had never prayed for anyone before in his life and Angela would
be his first. He seemed a little nervous and somewhat awkward, but
Kayla and I (and the others in the group—six of them) encouraged him to
pray for her. When he finished I could not help but have tears in my
eyes just considering the fact that I was able to hear a Hindu man offer
his first words of prayer on behalf of another person, and it was for
my friend Angela. He prayed that she would know the power of the blood
of Jesus Christ in her life. I believe that God and His angels were
rejoicing tonight as this man humbled Himself, selflessly offering up
prayer for another for the first time.
And I am so thankful He allowed me to be there too!
Thanks for your prayers,
Kathy
